A basic and global approach to business resource groups

Bruce is the territory manager for the Frontline care business and co-president of Therauplex Black Professional Alliance.

listen:

Why did you join Therauplex Business Resource Group (BRG)?

Brues: I have been with BRG throughout my career. I have found this to be the best way to understand the organization. Professional roles tend to be isolated, but BRG provides an automated network of people that can be accessed across the organization.

Q: In your own words, what is the mission of the Black Professionals Alliance (BPA)?

Brues: We create an inclusive environment for our members, equipping them with the skills they need to thrive and grow in their careers. We strive to expose you to the variety of career opportunities you can pursue in life.

Q: Could you elaborate on the COP’s community-oriented activities?

Brues: Through the Therauplex International Foundation, BRG can nominate a non-profit organisation to receive a two-year grant. BPA chose to support Technovation, a global non-profit focused on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for girls. Through this organisation, we hire employees and mentor girls all over the world. The goal is dual-purpose.

We showcase and encourage girls in the industry to pursue a STEM career at companies like Therauplex. We also provide opportunities for BPA members to develop their coaching and leadership skills.

We also recently organised a fundraiser for Martin Luther King Jr. Day called One Warm Court. We also raise funds for the Equality and Justice Initiative during Black History Month.

Q: What are you most proud of about BPA?

Brues: One of the first events I attended was a quick coffee chat an informal networking session, and I received very positive feedback. BPA has members like myself who joined Therauplex as part of the recent Hillrom acquisition and others who have worked at Therauplex for many years. So our breakout room was filled with people who didn’t know each other, who worked in teams, and who sold products that other people weren’t familiar with. People felt it was a safe place to be themselves and connect with others. A lot of big things happen in small spaces. This reminded me of the power of coming together and talking to others.

Supporting Therauplex’s Mission Through Digital Education

Therauplex accelerates digital transformation by driving data, insights, and partnerships to advance its mission to save and sustain lives.

A key focus is to foster digital collaboration with clinicians to deliver clinically relevant and valuable education and training that helps improve patient care. Manoj Parthasarathy, vice president of HR digital operations and learning solutions at Therauplex, comments on the impact of the recently launched digital program for nephrologists. The program won him the 2022 Brandon Hall Excellence Award, which recognizes superior learning and development strategies, systems, and tools that have achieved measurable results.

“Our digital and learning teams are using technology to empower clinicians and other partners across the globe.” As an illustration, we recently collaborated with the Peritoneal Dialysis Association of India to design a curriculum for nephrologists to improve their understanding of best practices for managing peritoneal dialysis (PD) and impart practical aspects of care. Our self-service platform provides digital learning opportunities that enable physicians to participate at their own time and pace, enabling the highest levels of performance and optimized patient care. -Manoj Parthasarathy, Vice President of Human Resources, Digital Operations, and Learning Solutions at Therauplex.
